Drs. Hubers and Knapke perform hip and knee replacement surgery as well as other procedures related to the hip and knee.

Hip replacement, or hip arthroplasty, is the surgical replacement of the hip joint with a prosthetic implant.  These implants are made with combinations of metal, ceramic, and plastic, and the specific implant used is chosen by the surgeon based on the patient.  A total hip replacement replaces both the acetabular portion (hip socket) and the femoral head (ball). Other techniques are possible including hemiarthroplasty (half of a hip replacement) and hip resurfacing. Total hip replacement is currently the most successful and reliable orthopaedic operation with 97% improved outcomes.

Knee replacement, or knee arthroplasty, is the surgical replacement of the knee joint.  The implants are made with a combination of metal and plastic and replace the joint surfaces on the femur, tibia, and patella.  There are partial knee replacements available to the select patient, and the decision to proceed with this surgical procedure is surgeon and patient driven.  Total knee replacement trails only total hip replacement as the most successful surgeries in orthopaedics.

Hip and knee replacement surgery can be a life changing experience for the patient, and as such, Drs. Hubers and Knapke take a patient centered approach to your operation.  From the initial visit, you will be educated regarding your treatment options, and each individual patient is involved in the decision making process.
