ASSOCIATES

Orthopaedic trauma is the treatment of all musculoskeletal injuries.  Orthopaedic traumatologists manage patients with fractures in all anatomic regions and specialize in the treatment of revision surgeries and complex pelvic and long bone fractures.  Traumatologists are trained in the care of patients with multiple injuries and are adept at soft tissue injuries as well as bones.

Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak is a level one trauma center meaning that all patients regardless of severity of injury are admitted to Beaumont.  As such, our traumatologists care for any and all patients and are familiar with the most complicated injuries.  Beaumont is also a tertiary referral center and due to our ability to care for these complicated problems, patients are often transferred into our facility for advanced care.

Many orthopaedic trauma patients come to the care of a surgeon through admission to the hospital by way of the ER.  Orthopaedic traumatologists often assume care of patients by this route, however, they also see patients by appointment in our office on an elective basis.  All orthopaedic surgeons are trained in the care of fractures and injuries specific to their anatomic specialty, however, it is the orthopaedic traumatologist who has advanced training in pelvic fractures, acetabular fractures (hip socket), and advanced techniques in long bone (ie femur) revision surgery.
